I was part of Northern Scripts short film project. Growing Pains is a short film whose screenwriters are Emma Finot, Ester Högberg and Mimmi Riikonen. The entire project was executed as a Northern Script short film project, a collaboration between screenwriters and media students from Osao. The production team of the short film was myself/Maiju Herranen, Miika Siuvatti, Meri Suutari-Jääskö, Sara Markkola, Akseli Taipale and Niilo Takkunen. Growing Pains was screened at the Oulu International Children’s and Youth Film Festival.
Growing Pains is a short film about Amin and his friend Hugo. The story focuses on Amin and his pains and problems as he has to move forward in his life away from his childhood days. Amin is moving out of his childhood home and is taking the first steps towards starting his own life. However, starting his own life and letting go of childhood brings up many problems that Amin tries to deal with. Growing Pains short film is a dramatic and touching short story that deals with how scary starting your own life can be.
While I was working with the film I worked as script supervisor, set designer and I designed and implemented the lighting. I also wrote an article about the project in our school online newspaper called Medioso with Akseli Taipale.
